Houston, TX-based Linscomb & Williams, a fee-only advisory firm, is opening an office in Birmingham, AL. The office will be led by Sheri Robinson, who previously served as a wealth strategist in Birmingham, and who joins the firm as a senior financial planner . At Linscomb & Williams, Robinson will provide wealth management strategies, including financial planning and investment management.

Abigail Gunderson and Ryan Patterson join as financial planners, while Lauren Bain starts as a financial planning administrator, the firm said in a statement . Gunderson was previously a certified financial planner for a registered investment advisor in Houston, TX.

Houston-based Encore Bank has agreed to buy financial planning firm Linscomb & Williams, also of Houston, in a bid to acquire more clients while deepening its overall wealth-management offering . The firms didn’t disclose further details of the transaction.
