New York-listed Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co, the global investment firm, hired former Central Intelligence Agency director David Petraeus as chairman of the newly-created KKR Global Institute. The firm has, in recent years, increased engagement on macroeconomic and geopolitical considerations, as well as on environmental, social and governance issues . “The KKR Global Institute will be the nexus of KKR’s focus on the investment implications of these issues,” it said.

Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, the wealth arm of German banking giant Deutsche Bank, has appointed Vinit Sahni to expand its services for ultra high net worth clients. Sahni most recently served at Bank of America, where he was head of rates and foreign exchange sales for Europe and Asia, and global head of hedge fund and central bank sales for rates and foreign exchange . Before that, he was the co-head of fixed income sales for Goldman Sachs in Asia ex-Japan.

Goldman Sachs AM Launches Alternatives Mutual Fund

Goldman Sachs Asset Management is launching a multi-manager fund offering access to a range of alternative strategies within a mutual fund. The Goldman Sachs Multi-Manager Alternatives Fund will invest in long-short equity, dynamic equity, event-driven and credit, relative value, tactical-trading, and opportunistic fixed income strategies . Co-managing the fund are Jason Gottlieb and Ryan Roderick, who sit within GSAM’s alternative investments and manager selection group, which manages around $120 billion of client assets.

New Hampshire Trust Firm Expands Management Team

Perspecta Trust, the New Hampshire-based trust and wealth management firm, has promoted Scott Baker to president, and hired Todd Mayo as a principal. Baker succeeds Paul Montrone, who has been president of the firm since it was founded in 2007 . Montrone will remain as chairman and chief executive.

Goldman Sachs Bank USA Given Green Light For UK Branch

Goldman Sachs Bank USA has confirmed that is has received approval to operate a private bank in the UK, following the bank’s expansion plans announced in October 2012. In a filing with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, Goldman Sachs Bank USA - the US commercial banking unit - was granted the approval for its UK operation on March 21 . The new London-based branch will provide advice on investments, deposit-taking, dealing on an agency and principal basis, as well as the safeguarding and administration of assets, according to the FCA filing.

New York-headquartered Tiedemann Wealth Management has hired Thaddeus Shelly as a managing director and senior advisor in Palm Beach, FL - a role in which he will develop and maintain client relationships. Shelly joins Tiedemann from Lazard, where he served as a managing director and chief executive of Lazard Wealth Management, overseeing the firm’s private wealth management effort in the US . Prior to joining Lazard in 2009, he was a senior managing director at Bessemer Trust, where he oversaw client acquisition and account management for their Mid-Atlantic, south and southeast regions, as well as the firm’s Delaware Trust Company.
