Cary Street Partners, the Virginia-based wealth management and investment banking firm, has appointed William Akmentins as director of research.
Akmentins was previously the director of public investments at Southern Methodist University where he managed the school's $1.2 billion endowment. Prior to that, he was a senior portfolio manager at US Trust where he oversaw $300 million in client portfolios for foundations and endowments. He has also served as a private investment advisor for many high net worth families.
In his new role, he will be based at the firm's headquarters in Richmond and will be working closely with Marshall Acuff, market strategist.
Cary Street Partners manages around 1,063 accounts totaling $782 billion in assets.
