The owner of ETF giant iShares also said that emerging markets equity ETPs have recorded year-to-date inflows of $13 billion, compared with $700 million in the comparable period last year. The strongest inflows this year came in January and February.
Global ETP assets now stand at $1.716 trillion, down from $1.728 trillion at the end of March, around 70 per cent of which is in equity ETFs, according to BlackRock. At the end of 2011, the market had $1.525 trillion in assets under management globally.
The findings reflect the overall market environment, which generally saw a strong opening quarter followed by a decline in April.
